The Island of Kauai is astoundingly diverse and a photographer's delight. One of the island’s high points, Mount Wai’ale’ale, is the wettest spot on the planet with 460 inches of rain per year. While just to the west, in this mountain's rain shadow, a meager 16 inches of rain reaches the ground. In this photograph, the scenery and play of light & shadow make clear why Kauai is called "The Garden Isle." (More of Steve's images can be found at www.facebook.com/mountainsongphotography)
